EUCHRE MATCH Much interest was shown in a euchre challenge match between the Tennis Club and the Public Library supporters. The Tennis Club won by 262 points to 218. The prizes were won by Mrs R. D. Smith and Mr L. Galletley. Supper was handed round by the supporters of the Tennis Club. Mr Wimsett thanked those present for supporting the evening and intimated that a return match would be held in the middle of September. RAINFALL The rainfall recorded by Mr D. G. Lyall in August was: 22nd 18 points, 28th 15 points, 29 14 points, 30th 2 points; total .49 inches compared with .75 inches for the corresponding month last year. The rainfall for the year totals 19.73 inches. During August rain fell at Lyalldale as follows: 12th 14 points, 20th 2 points, 22nd 10 points, 27th 43 points, 28th 17 points, 30th 3 points; total .89 inches. The total to the end of August was 16.05 inches; last year 11.67 inches. PERSONAL Mr and Mrs Inder and Miss Inder. Dunedin, are the guests of Mr and Mrs J. R. Trimble, “Post Office House.” Mr T. Kane is the guest of his brother, Mr J. Kane, Bluecliffs Road, St. Andrews. Mr and Mrs J. Newbegin, “The Bungalow,” St. Andrews, are spending a holiday in the Hakataramea district. Misses C. and D. Bell and Mr C. Bell have returned after spending a few days in Christchurch. Miss Ena Dash is the guest of Mr John Grigor, Tawai, Glenavy.
