CLYDESDALES
A VALUABLE SHIPMENT By reievraph Ptpss Association AUCKLAND, September 1. The most valuable consignment of Clydesdale horses to come to New Zealand arrived by the Port Hobart this morning from Scotland —nine stallions and colts and seven mares, the last mentioned including the three-year-old Rosetta, the winner of the Cawdor Cup, the president’s medal, and the female championship of Scotland. The consignment was brought by Mr David Adams, Auchencralg, Dumbarton, one of the biggest breeders of Clydesdales in Scotland, his stud having provided more winners for Australia and New Zealand than any other in the world. Interviewed, Mr Adams said he sent the first shipment of Clydesdales to Australia ten years ago, and the present shipment contained the very best blood. Rosetta was certainly the best filly of this breed. The horses will be sent to Wellington and sold.
