ORARI FACTORY
DIRECTORS’ ANNUAL REPORT Reference to the guaranteed price for dairy produce is contained in the annual report of the Orari Co-opera-tive Dairy Company, to be presented at the annual meeting of shareholders this week. The report states that while the taking over of the export dairy produce of the Dominion under a guaranteed price scheme was an experiment that would be watched with interest, it would be the duty of every shareholder to support the Government in its efforts to bring about a more stable state of affairs in the industry. Premiums would be payable for finest grade, that suppliers would assist the Government by bringing in the best quality milk. Reviewing the past season, the report states that it opened well but that dry conditions in the spring and summer caused a considerable falling off in production in those months. Better rains toward the end of the season brought improved conditions. Although f.p.b. offers were muph in evidence it was difficult to judge the peak price, in view of the steadily advancing market. Compared with recent years however, the average price would be regarded as satisfactory. For the coming season suppliers would assist greatly in the reduction of costs by starting r.t the factory earlier in the season and maintaining a longer period of supply.
