COMPLIMENTARY SOCIAL

MISS O. DALTON HONOURED In appreciation of her services to the Milford district during the last few years, Miss O. Dalton was the guest of the residents at a complimentary dance on Saturday evening. After supper had been served a presentation from the residents was made. Mr R. A. Lyall, chairman of the school committee, referred to the active part Miss Dalton had always taken in the affairs of the district. She was well respected by the residents, who were sorry to be losing her services as infant teacher.\ The presentation of a silver tea service was made by Mr A. D. Crossman who said it was unfortunate that Miss Dalton was leaving the district just as the residents were beginning to fully appreciate her worth. Not only had she been a hard worker for the school but she had always been a willing worker for anything that the committee had arranged and for anything that was to the benefit of the district. She would be pleased to know that she had many friends in the district and he hoped that she would always have pleasant recollections of her association with the Milford district. Mr C. T. Wild, headmaster of the i school, said he had to thank Miss Dalton for playing her part so well. Her place would not be easy to fill. On behalf of the basketball club Mr James Woodhead spoke in appreciative terms of the time that Miss Dalton had devoted to coaching and the game generally. X presentation from the Club was made by Miss M. McCormick. In reply, Mr C. Riordan, for Miss Dalton, said he greatly appreciated the many complimentary remarks that had been passed. Miss Dalton had enjoyed her stay in Milford and she hoped that the people had enjoyed her presence as much as she had enjoyed their company. During the evening music for the dancing was supplied by a local orchestra, Miss B. Woodhead playing extras, and Mr G. Turley being the M.C. Songs were contributes by Messrs Woodhead »nd G. Brown.
