WEDDINGS

ROSS—JOHNSTON At the church of the Sacred Heart recently the wedding was celebrated of Francis Charles, only son of Mr and Mrs Ross, Queenstown and Zilla Francis, second daughter of Mr and Mrs Johnston, Tinwald. The officiating priest was Rev. Father Smyth SM. The bride looked charming as she entered the church on the arm of her father. She wore an ivory satin frock made on close fitting lines with high neckline and yoke of lace. The frock which was tight fitting to the knees fell in V shaped flares and was held at the waist with a plaited girdle. Her beautiful tulle veil (previously worn by her two aunts) was worn in halo style and fell in graceful folds to form a train. She carried a bouquet of hot house flowers and ferns. The bride’s cousin, Miss Nena Hill, who was the only bridesmaid wore a hedge coloured needle run lace frock with green velvet sash. Her beige coloured straw hat was trimmed with green and yellow flowers and she carried a bouquet to tone. Mr Jack Johnston was best man. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by her cousin, Kevin O’Donoghue. Later the guests were entertained at the Stafford where Mr and Mrs Johnston received the guests. Mrs Johnston wore a navy blue costume with salnion coloured blouse, fox fur and navy hat. Mrs Ross, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a navy frock with oyster coloured trimmings and hat and coat to tone. Later in the day Mr and Mrs F. Ross left for the south the latter wearing a wine coloured woven costume with fawn lace blouse, a wine coloured hat trimmed with fawn and a camel hair coat.
