FLAG BRIDGE EVENING The Pareora West ex-pupils spent a very enjoyable evening when the final flag bridge tournament was held on Monday night. After supper, Mr B. E. Evans (president of the Ex-Pupils’ Association) thanked all for their patronage during the series and stated that a meeting of ex-pupils would be held in August to prepare for the annual re-union in October. He then presented the trophies to the winners that evening. Miss E. Arden, Mr A. Ward, and Mr H. Arden. Consolation prizes fell to Miss G. Evans, Mr V. Hoare and Mr P. Jackson. EUCHRE TOURNAMENT A euchre tournament was arranged by the Pareora West School Committee between players from Fairview and Otipua, in the Otipua Hall. Sixty-four players took part in the match, which was very keenly contested and resulted in a win for Fairview, the scores being Fairview 92, Otipua 83. After supper had been partaken of. Mr W. H. Arden (chairman of the School Committee) thanked the Fairview players for their attendance and called for cheers from Otipua players. He announced that a return match would be held at Fairview in a fortnight’s time.
