ATTACK ON LEAGUE OF BROTHERS GENERAL HERTZOG’S CRITICISM United Press Association—By Electric Tel egraph —Copyright (Received November 8, 7.25 p.m.) LONDON, November 7. The Bloemfontein correspondent of “The Times” says: Tire Prime Minister (General Hertzog), speaking in his constituency, denounced the Afrikander Broederbond (League of Brothers), of which Dr. Malan and his lieutenants are members, as a secret society, aiming at an independent republic, and the severing of all South Africa’s constitutional ties, General Hertzog declared that the Afrikander Broederbond gravely menaced peace and also the purity of public life and administration. Moreover the machinations of the Broederbond affected the life of the community, as it was connected with other secret institutions, exploiting political and racial aims. General Hertzog disclosed that the Afrikander Broederbond had organised local divisions, which closely examined applications for membership. There was a danger that the non-members in the Civil service would be victims to intrigue, while the teacher members were endangering the interests of the childm.
