TO-DAY’S RECIPE
TABLE APPOINTMENTS
The best of table napery and the finest of silverware ancl glassware will not overcome defects in arrangement. That is why women with an artistic sense and poor to medium table appointments are able to make their tables look far more attractive than a more well-to-do woman would find possible with the best of tableware.
To-day the opportunity to display one’s individuality in table decorating is greater than ever before, because there are no set “fashions.”
Your table napery can be white or coloured. It can have a coloured border or an all-over colour design. It can match your china in colouring, or contrast with it whichever you may deem desirable. Flowers and fruit are valuable aids to table decoration. With these, and a few paper serviettes worked into cunning shapes, many a thrifty housewife is able to “make a show” at trifling cost.
In these days, when the family purse is often sadly depleted, it is heartening too. that the “well dressed” table is so largely a matter of individual initiative; and that the cost factor is one that need not worry the careful home-planner.
