WEDDING

O’LOUGHLIN—O BOYLE Among the weddings celebrated recently was that of Monica Margarette, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Boyle, “Hafton,” Otaio, to James Michael, youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs John O’Loughlin, "Spring Parle,” St. Andrews. The Sacred Heart Church was artistically decorated for the ceremony. Vases of pink and cream roses and dahlias decorated the altar, and in lovely blending of colour large bowls were set on either side filled with Virginia leaves and branches of red oak mingling with pink chrysanthemums. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father M. Murphy, S.M. and Mrs N. D. Mangos was organist. The bride was given away by her father. She wore a lovely gown of magnolia satin designed with graceful simplicity, with the flowing lines of the skirt continuing to a train. Slight cowl fullness softened the neckline and the long close sleeves finished over the hands with a row of tiny buttons, and similar trimming marked the back of the bodice. Forming another train, was a veil of finest silk net worn over the face. It was arranged from a “halo” of pettailed satin with clusters of orange blossom at the sides. Her beautiful bouquet was of cream roses.

The bride's sister, Miss Kathleen O’Boyle, as bridesmaid, wore a charming frock of begonia pink georgette mounted on satin which followed moulded lines to the hips, then flared to ground length and velvet trimmings were an effective relief to the square neckline. Her “halo" headdress was composed of pink georgette petals and pink roses were in her bouquet. Two little girls, Philomena O’Boyle and Monica Gilmore of Christchurch, cousins of the bride, also attended wearing dainty frocks of eau de nil shading, with frills outlining the square necks and hems, with wide sashes tied in large bows at the back. They also wore petalled “halos” on their hair and earned posies of lemon dahlias. Mr L. H. Kennedy of Amberley, a cousin of the bridegroom was best man. On leaving the church, the bride was presented with a good luck token from Shona Powell.

The reception was afterward held at “Hafton,” the home of the bride’s parents, the reception rooms being filled with chrysanthemums and hydrangeas. A large marquee was erected, the decorations being pink and green streamers and flowers, chosen mainly in pink tints, the scheme completed by a wedding bell suspended over the bridal table. Mrs O’Boyle received the guests wearing a smart gown of black tulip shade and a black coat and velour hat with ostrich tip. Red begonias were in her bouquet. Miss O’Loughlin, aunt of the bridegroom, wore a tailored costume of black and a black felt hat. Her bouquet being of autumn shaded dahlias. Mrs L. Scott, sister of the bridegroom, was in a grey ensemble and red felt hat.

For travelling the bride wore an attractive tailored suit of brown tweed and brown velour hat. Her coat was of black tulip shade, furred with fox.
