Mr Wallis Myers, the well-known lawn tennis critic, writing in the “Daily Telegraph,” says: “While an Australian victory in the first round of the Davis Cup can be confidently predicted, on relative form A. C. Stedman (N.Z.) will not be easily beaten by Australia's second singles player, while the Australians will need to make their best efforts to win the doubles. H. Hopman, the “Sun-Herald” correspondent, writing from Eastbourne, says: “E. D. Andrews is the only New Zealander here. I practised singles with him and found his forehand good, but his backhand weak. He needs much practice in order to hold our best. C. E. Malfroy and A. C. Stedman will arrive to-night."

MEXICO BEATS CUBA United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph —Copyright MEXICO CITY, May 5. Mexico advanced into the North American zone final of the Davis Cup competion. Results were:— Hernandes (Mexico) beat Jose Aguero (Cuba), 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 7-5. Reyes (Mexico) beat Joffre Eteheverry (Cuba), 8-6, 6-1, 6-3. Alfonsa Unda and Llano (Mexico) beat Randin and Aguero (Cuba), 6-4, 6-1, 6-3, in the doubles.
