Mexico advanced into the North American zone final of the Davis Cup competion. Results were:— Hernandes (Mexico) defeated Jose Aguero (Cuba), 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 7-5. Reyes (Mexico) defeated Joffre Etecheverry (Cuba), 8-6, 6-1, 6-3. Alfonsa Unda and Llano (Mexico) defeated Randin and Aguero (Cuba), 6-4, 6-1, 6-3, in the doubles. NEW ZEALANDERS’ VICTORY United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received May 6, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, May 5. Mr H. Hopman says: “The New Zealanders’ win over the South Africans in the doubles championship at Bournemouth will cause no worry to the Australians. The tennis was bad. The South Africans were woefully out of touch and unable to make attacking shots.”
