CRAIGHEAD OLD GIRLS’ ASSOCIATION
SOUTHLAND BRANCH The Southland branch of the Craighead Old Girls’ Association held its second annual dinner in the Brown Owl, Invercargill. The table was decorated with bowls of roses from Mrs F. G. Hall-Jones’ garden and the school colours were carried out in Miss Patterson’s green and blue dishes. Miss Patricia Macalister presented the president (Mrs Hall-Jones) with a bouquet of sweet peas from the school. After Miss L. F. Watson had proposed the Royal toast. Miss Mary Chilwell proposed the toast of the School, Staff and Headmistress, and in reply, a letter from Mrs Macpherson (the headmistress) was read by Miss J. Gilmour. Mrs P. W. Gresson proposed the toast to kindred associations and Miss A. Tapley (St. John's Old Girls) replied. The guests of honour were the following representatives of other associations: Mrs T. Menzies Watson (Nelson College), Misses A. Tapley (St. John’s O.G.A), F. Basstian (5.G.H.5.0.G.A.), J. Copeland (Archerfield O.G.A), C. Todd (St. Hilda’s 0.G.A.), M. Cowie (Columba 0.G.A.). Besides the guests of honour those present were Mesdames F. G. HallJones, P. W. Gresson; Misses L. F. Watson, L. Cartwright (Timaru), M. Bond, \J. Edgar Jones (Timaru), E. Macdonald, M. Chilwell, G. Macdonald, J. Gilmour, P. Macalister and B. Macdonald. Immediately after the dinner the annual meeting was held when the following officers for the ensuing year were elected: President, Mrs F. G. Hall-Jones (re-elected); vice-president. Mrs P. W. Gresson; secretary, Miss Gilmour (re-elected); committee. Misses L. F. Watson and G. Macdonald (re-elected), and Misses M. Bond and E. Macdonald.
