MAYOR FOR SYDNEY
VOTING OF COUNCIL YIELDS DEAD HEAT United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received December 18, 10 p.m.) SYDNEY, December 18. The newly-elected City Council of Sydney has made two unsuccessful attempts to elect a Lord Mayor, and each occasion has resulted in a deadlock, the two candidates, Alderman Parker and Alderman Jackson, each receiving ten votes. Alderman Parker is the former Lord Mayor. It is now believed that the Government will take the matter in hand.
