RACES AT NORTH END The recently-formed North End Swimming Club held its first race at Waimataitai Baths on Monday night, while the Old Boys’ Club associated itself with the Club in holding a 100 Yards Old Boys’ Handicap, which resulted:—W. Sutherland 1, B. Richards 2, G. Wotherspoon 3. The North End event, a 33 1-3 yards handicap resulted: First heat, Miss Andrews 1. R. Whiteside 2; second heat, R. Duncan 1, Mis Leslie 2; final, Miss Andrews 1. R. Duncan 2. Mr J. Davey, on behalf of the North End Club apologised for the absence of the president (Mr D. L. McLean). He thanked the Old Boys’ Club for holding one of their races at the new baths, and said that this action was very encouraging to the younger Club. The president of the Old Boys’ Club (Mr W. Carlton) said that it had afforded his members considerable pleasure to hold a race at North Eend, and he hoped that it would be the forerunner of many more inter-club visits. He extended an invitation to North End swimmers to hold a race at West End Baths. TIMARU LADIES’ CLUB The Timaru Ladies’ Swimming Club held its weekly swim at the Century Baths under perfect conditions. The results of the 2 scratch races were:— 25 yards Breast Stroke (junr.)
