PRINCESS AS CAMERA ARTIST

According to the Swedish weekly newspaper “Vecko-Journalen,” Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna of Russia, mother of Prince Lennart of Sweden, is at present studying the profession of photographer. It is the Princess’s intention to start a camera studio on her own at New York later in the autumn. Princess Maria, who was formerly married to Prince William of Sweden, is a pupil of the well-known American camera artist Rabinovitch in New York. Some of the Princess’s pupil work has already been on view at an exhibition of camera portraits in New York. Princess Maria has been learning the photographer’s profession right from the very beginning, it is stated, and has been busy developing, printing, retouching, etc., in company with other pupils. She has already received a large number of orders for artistic camera pictures for industrial purposes. The Princess’s decision, however, is not to interfere with her literary work. A new book will be out just in time for Christmas, the title of which will be “Family Portraits,” and which is said to mark the end of the Princess’s biographical notes, which have created such interest throughout the world.
