SOCIAL HELD BY RIFLE CLUB TROPHIES PRESENTED The first annual dance and presentation of trophies of the Mt. Peel Station Miniature Rifle Club was held in the Peel Forest Hall on Thursday evening. The function, which was well patronised, proved to be most enjoyable. Early in the evening, the secretary, Mr G. Fifield, before calling on Mr J. Acland to present the trophies, passed a vote of thanks to all donors of trophies and helpers. Mr J. Acland then presented the trophies as follows:—Sir Hugh Acland’s trophy, J. Chapman; Mr N. Brown’s trophy, L. Bell; Mrs L. Timson’s trophy, P. Evans; Mr W. Hardie’s trophy, L. Timson; Mr J. Acland’s trophy, G. Fifield; Gibson Bros.’ trophy (self handicap), E. Allen; Mrs O. Keen’s trophy (no sling, and off the rifle), G. Fifield’ Mr G. Fifield’s trophy, J. Acland; J. Chapman’s trophy (most improved shot). E. Allan; Mr A. Taylor’s trophy (winner of silver button the most times), O. Keen; Mr H. Morrison's trophy (highest aggregate), O. Keen; Mr E. Allan’s trophy (lowest aggregate), F. Brown. During the evening two novelty dances were held. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr J. Hewitt and Miss R. Ashby, and a lucky spot one step by Mr A. Bennington and partner. A competition for a cake given by Mr O. Keen was won by Miss H. Cain. Music for the dance was supplied by an orchestra. Mr O. Keen was M.C. Those present were: Mrs L. Timpson, Mr and Mrs O. BARNABAS GUILD The monthly meeting of St. Barnabas Guild was held in the Sunday School on Thursday afternoon. Mrs G. Dennistoun presided, and the following members were present: Mesdames J. M. H. Tripp, W. E. Barker, S. U’Pritchard, F. Claydon, G. Wooding, D. G. Rutherford, T. Smith, T. Smith, W. Macphail, T. Stinson, Misses O. Stinson. R. Barker. M. Macphail and D. Barker. The main business of the meeting was to complete the arrangements for annual bazaar. At the conclusion of the meeting afternoon tea was dispensed by Mrs S. U’Pritchard and Miss M. Macphail.
