SHORT STORY
CHRISTMAS SUPPLEMENT COMPETITION Considerable interest has been aroused by the announcement of the decision to hold a short story competition, open to New Zealand writers in connection with the Christmas supplement of “The Timaru Herald.” Three prizes are offered, namely, first prize £2 2/-; second prize £l/1/-; the prize winners to be published in the Christmas supplement of ‘‘The Timaru Herald.” Other stories published will be paid for at 10/6 each. Stories are not to exceed 2000 words and, subject to this condition, they will be judged on merit, irrespective of length. A New Zealand background will not be regarded as essential, but * the themes should be suitable for publication in the Christmas supplement. Entries must reach “The Timaru Herald” not later than December 3.
