Mr R. Milne (Dunedin) is staying at the Dominion. Mr R. Semple, M.P., Wellington East, will visit Timaru at the end of the month. Messrs W. R. Jamieson, R. M. Adams and L. J. Moorhouse (Christchurch) are registered at the Grosvenqr. Messrs A. W. Hudson (Palmerston North), E. R. Hudson (Taumaranui), B. Preston (Christchurch), J. A. Kilmartin, and W Stiglich (Dunedin) are staying at the Empire. The Public Service Commissioner announces the appointment of Mr G. B. Miller at present Deputy Superintendent of the State Advances Office, as Superintendent. Flight Lieutenant Rex. A. O. Kippenberger, an instructor in the Royal Air Force, is on his way to New Zealand to visit his parents at Studholme. Dr. J. Kennedy, Elliott, of Wellington, recently on the staff of the Royal Northern Hospital, London, has passed his final examination for the diploma of F.R.C.S., England. Mr W. R. Patrick, of the Christchurch blanch of the National Mutual Life Association, has been granted a transfer to Invercargill to enable him to accept a position as coach to the Southland Cricket Association. Mr R. Gardner, formerly second engineer of the Union Company’s passenger steamer Maori, left Napier yesterday by the Rangitiki for the United Kingdom on business for the company. Mr F. E. Hutchinson, who has been appointed to a position with the forestry branch of the Australian Association for Scientific and Industrial Research, will sail for Australia l ’ the Wanganella on November 22. Cadet-Corporal A. G. Hayter (Nelson) has won the physical training prize at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. He was nominated for Sandhurst by the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and in due course he hopes to join an Indian frontier regiment. M. W. E. Barnard. M.P., accompanied by Mrs Barnard, will leave Napier next week on a trip to the East, Japan being the chief objective. Some time ago Mr Barnard was advised to take a sea voyage for the benefit of his health and the trip which he is taking will keep him away from New Zealand until February.
