Dominion Meteorologist. General situation.—The depression mentioned yesterday is now slowlv crossing the Dominion, but a secondarv depression has developed behind it. A rather vigorous cyclonic centre is located near Norfolk Island. Winds.—Moderate, variable over the southern half of the South Island, elsewhere north to north-east, moderate mainly but strong to gale force in the far north. Seas (New Zealand waters).—Rough north of East Cape, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea. Variable winds, northerlies predominating, force light to fresh, seas moderate. Weather.—Rain developing over Auckland province and the southern and western portions of the South Island, elsewhere fair to cloudy for the present; unsettled conditions are likely during the week-end: temperatures warm, especially over the North Island. Mr F. L. Wooles Wind.—Moderate to fresh south to south-east ruling. Weather. —Cool; further showers likely. Conditions in Timaru Fine sunny weather prevailed in Timaru for the greater part of yesterday, but towards late afternoon the sky became overcast and the remainder of the day was dull.
