BEHIND THE BIG DAM AT WAITAKI. —A view of a small portion of the huge lake which has been formed by the building of the big dam in connection with the Waitaki hydro-electric works. After the sluice gates were closed a few weeks ago , the water rapidly banked up behind the dam, forming a lake 5 ½ miles in length and 1½ miles An maximum width. In the foreground can be seen a number of workers’ hutments.
