AMUNDSEN’S ESTATE
£3OO DEPOSIT Roald Amunsden, of Appegaard, Norway, the famous explorer, who died “in the month of June, 1928, m the Arctic Regions,” when 111 1 s^ a i‘F h v of General Nobile and the ill-fated Italian airship, left estate in England valued at £349/2/6. He died intestate and letters of administration have been granted to the Consul-General for Norway The latter made the following statement: “I think Amunsden must have placed about £3OO in the bank a good many years ago and then have forgotten all about it. At any rate, the existence of the money only came to light after the explorer's death. The Midland Bank, with which the money was deposited, then notified Mr Amunsden’s relations in Norway.”
