BRITAIN’S INTEREST IN GAMES
INADEQUACY OF GROUNDS. BUILDING OF BIG STADIUM SUGGESTED. United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph —Copyright (Received June 25, 7.10 p.m.) LONDON. June 25. The special correspondent of “The Daily Mail” complains not only of the inadequacy of the accommodation at Lords, but also at Wimbledon. Thirty thousand must have been unable to secure entry to Lords on Saturday, while at Wimbledon the authorities have had to return £15,000 to unsuccessful applicants for season tickets. Wembly stadium will hold 93,000, but there were 370,000 applications for tickets for the last cup final. The only solution seems to be the erection of a stadium capable of holding half a million spectators.
