AUSTRALIAN JUDGE’S APPEAL
PEOPLE URGED TO REFUSE TO FIGHT

Declaring that there were enormously powerful factors steadily driving th'e world toward war. Judge A. W. Foster, of the County Court, in addressing the students of the Melbourne University to-day, expressed the hope that some day the public of every country would propound a resolution like Oxford’s, “not to fight for King and country,” and pass it unanimously. The Judge added that intense nationalism, following the last war, together with the economic disputes and interests of powerful firms, was rushing the world to war and the people’s will not to have war at any cost should prevail.
LIMITATION OF NAVIES. ANGLO-AMERICAN TALKS. British Official Wireless RUGBY, June 24. The Anglo-American preliminary naval talks, which are proceeding in London, are being conducted in pursuance of an invitation extended by the British Government to the other four Powers concerned to renew the whole subject of future naval limitation in connection with the 1935 Conference. In bi-lateral conversations a hope was recently expressed by the First Lord of the Admiralty that all relevant technical questions would be discussed in these talks, and the United States experts are taking part in the discussions, now proceeding with the British Government representatives. It is understood that the other Powers interested are being kept informed of the exchanges of views that are taking place.

Unite,! ere Association By Electric Telegraph —Copyright LONDON, June 24. “The Sunday Graphic” says that 107 German aeroplanes are participating in a disquieting competition. They engaged in a race round Germany in fighting formation, while the important part of the contest is spotting landmarks, which are bombed with flour sacks. Although it is described as a sporting event so far, there have been three deaths due to crashes.
