PRAYERS FOR PEACE
IMPRESSIVE SCENE AT LOURDES. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright PARIS, November 5. An impressive scene was witnessed at Lourdes, where 10,000 war veterans prayed before the Grotto of the Virgin at a pilgrimage organised by priests who had ministered to the soldiers in war-time. Some of the scathless were merely fulfilling a battlefield vow; the majority suffered from gas and shellshock, and some were beyond any aid that could be rendered. The Archbishop of file celebrated Pontifical Mass in the open air.
