YESTERDAY’S STREET APPEAL £7B/10/0 COLLECTED Undaunted by the unfavourable weather In Timaru yesterday, on enthusiastic band of collectors stuck to their posts and played the major part in raising £73 10/- in a street appeal on behalf of St. Saviour’s Orphanage, the Presbyterian Children’s Home and the Bramwell Booth Boys’ Home (Temuka). Although some small expense is to be met, it is expected that more than £7O will be divided on a per capita basis between the three institutions. The appeal, which was the first of that nature held for some years, was commenced in the morning, and it waa not till after 5 p.m. that the last returns came to hand. The collectors were: Mesdames Duff ell, D. Byers, Anderson, J. Norrie, Elston, A. E. Lawrence, Millar, Wilson, H. J. Brewer, Hood, Knight, Oliver, Wade. Patten, L. G. Wood, Misses Double, Elston, Rule, M. Kerr, Howden, Stone, I. McFarlane, B. Mangos, Vucetich, McDonald, Bayliss, LeCren, Pearson, Adams, Murchison, Palliser, A skin, J. Young, Webster, Jeannette Young, Parker, Clements, Joyce Vucetich, Rudge, Stowell, Campbell, Finlay, Hogg, J. Holdgate, RendaU, Curie, Bayliss, McMahon, L Duncan, L. Mayo, A. Lawrence, Q. McDonald, and Miss E. Thomas, Ensign Pinnefl, Captain Cobb, Lieutenant Hawker, Adjutant Elston, Lieutenant Hill and Ensign W. Knight. A shop was commissioned in Stafford Street and produce and similar goods met with a ready market. £9/6/10 of the total amount raised coming from this source. The helpers were Mesdames E. A. Scott, Chapman, Freeman, Cunningham and Brewer, Mrs Adjutant Elston and Misses Knubley and Pearson. The committee responsible for the organisation of the appeal was: Mr C. O. Bryan King (chairman), and Misses Schmidt and Tlzard (St. Saviour’s'. Adjutants Chard and Elston (Bramwell Booth Home), W. H. Walton senr. and J. W. Thompson (Presbyterian Children’s Home).
