Mr L J. Bradley is at present on • visit to Australia. The Hon. W. Downie Stewart. M.P.. expects to reach Auckland on October 30 by the motor vessel Aorangi on his return from Canada. Sympathy was expressed by members of the Timaru Harbour Board, at their monthly meeting yesterday, with the chairman of the Board (Mr G. T. Dawson) in the death of his sister. Mr A J. Plummer, of the Sydney branch of the Union Steam Ship Company, is on a holiday visit to New Zealand. He is accompanied by Mrs Plummer. Mr G. W. Reid (Dunedin), president of the New Zealand Society of Accountants and a member of the New Zealand Railways Board, was in Timaru yesterday. Mr H. M. Whatman yesterday took his seat on the Timaru Harbour Board as the representative of the Walmate County and Borough, and was welcomed to the Board table by the chairman (Mr G. T. Dawson'. Reference to the death of Mr Edgar Jones was made at last night's meeting of the Timaru Horticultural Society by the chairman (Mr G. E. Knowles) and the secretary was Instructed to convey the Society's sympathy to Mrs Edgar Jones. The sympathy of the South Canterbury Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was, at yesterday's meeting, extended to the relatives of Messrs Edgar Jones and T. E. Gunnion. The chairman (Mr A. Ward' said that both gentlemen had played a prominent part in the early progress of the country. The South Canterbury Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union at yesterday's meeting passed a motion of sympathy with the relatives of Mr H. E. Holland. The chairman (Mr A. Ward) said that the late Leader of the Opposition had been a great worker for his country, and in spite of different political views, all would regret his death. At yesterday’s meeting of the Timaru Harbour Board, reference was made bv the chairman (Mr G. T. Dawson) to the death of Mr J. McIntosh. who was a member of the Board's staff from 1897 till 1921, in which year he retired on superannuation. A motion of condolence with the relatives of Mr Mclntosh was carried in silence.
