FORMAL CHALLENGE LODGED. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright NEW YORK, October 17. A formal challenge for the America Cup was received on Tuesday by the New York Yacht Club. If the practice of other years Is followed, various syndicates will be formed to build yachts, and the defender selected after a series of elimination races.
