QUEEN CARNIVAL ACCOUNTS.
To the Editor of " The Tlmaru Herald " Sir—Now that the Queen Carnival contest has been concluded, and the elected queen duly crowned, is not the public, who after all supplied the munitions for the contest, entitled to see balance sheets of the respective Queen Committees. I understand that the result of the contest was to be decided by the amount of the net funds in the hands of the respective committees and paid into the central fund by nine o’clock on the night of the closing of the poll, and accordingly, no difficulty should be experienced in supplying the public with the figures. So far, the United Services' Queen Committee appears to be the only one which has published a properly audited statement. I take net proceeds to mean the amount available after all expenses incurred in raising the funds had been paid or else after sufficient money for that purpose had been retained.—l am. etc., INTERESTED.
