PROGRESS IN AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph—Pres. Ajeodatloo WELLINGTON, October 16 The general manager of the New Zealand Radio Broadcasting Board Mr E. C. Hands, returned by the Marama from Sydney to-day after a brief visit to Australia. Mr Hands said that one of the reasons for his trip was to see the new studios erected at Newcastle by the Australian Broadcasting Commission He had been very much Impressed by them. The number of radio licenses was increasing rapidly, and was now on the half million mark. The commission was pursuing a policy of importing notable artists from abroad, and there appeared to be no doubt that its efforts to Improve the standard of the programmes were appreciated by listeners.
