HARBOUR RECEIPTS

IMPROVEMENT FOR EIGHT MONTHS. At yesterday’s meeting of the Timaru Harbour Board, the chairman (Mr G. T. Dawson) presented a comparative statement of receipts for the first eight months of the present year, and the corresponding period of last year, which showed an increase of £206/4/3 without taking into account the amount received last year for the hire of the dredge to Oamaru, and harbour Improvement rate, from which £1602 was received last year. £20,776 £28,137 Imports during the period under review totalled 21,821 tons, as against 23,185 tons last year. Exports this year totalled 56,442 tons, last years figures being 42,204, an Increase of 14 238 tons. The registered tonnage inwards was 335,812, as against 339,868 tons during the first eight months of last year.
