The Hon. C. E. Macmillan has returned to Wellington from Hamilton. The Hon E. A. Ransom left Wellington yesterday on a visit to the Dannevirke district. He will return to Wellington on Tuesday. The Right Hon. J. G. Coates will leave Wellington for Kawera on Monday. On Tuesday he will open the Hawera Show and will return to Wellington the following day. The Hon. J. Bitchencr, Minister of Public Works, will spend the week-end at his home at Waimate. On Tuesday he will proceed with education matters, in his capacity as acting-Minister of Education. The Rev 3. Vercoe Cocks, director of Methodist youth work in New South Wales, will a.rive in Auckland on July 1 to undertake a tour of New Zealant. to address Methodist youth movement organisations. On the recommendation of M. Edouard Joubert, French Consul in Auckland, the Minister for Public Instruction and Fine Arts in Paris has conferred the distinction of Officer of Public Instruction on Mr P. S. Ardern, lecturer in English at Auckland University College, and president of the 1 Auckland French Club: and also on | Mr O. R. Bendall, Vice-Consul tor \ France in Wellington, and general manager there for the Royal Exchange 1 Assurance Corporation.
