BAY CARNIVAL
ARRANGEMENTS COMPLETED. With a greater variety of side shows and amusement devices than in former years, the Caroline Bay Bay Association’s carnival this year promises to be as successful as -any held in recent years. Last year the public gave the carnival every support, and as a result, a goodly sum of money was handed over to the Central Relief Society. During the past twelve months, the Society has done wonderful work in assisting the unfortunate members of the community, and at the present time, their funds are at a very low ebb. It is hoped that as a result of the carnival, which commences on the Bay at 2.15 on Monday, the Society will receive a sufficient sum to enable it to oontinue to assist those who are in unfortunate circumstances. Arrangements for the carnival have now been completed, and all that remains to ensure success is fine weather. Following the offical opening ceremony, which is to be performed by the Mayor, a concert party from Christchurch styling themselves the “Joy Germs,” will give an entertainment from the rotunda. The party appeared last year, and many people have pleasurable recollection of their performances.
A fine programme has been arranged for the children, for whose benefit sand-modelling competitions and fancy dress dances have been arranged. The concert party wall appear each evening, and a dance will also be held in the Bay Hall each evening, commencing at 9 o’clock. Programmes of music will be given by the Municipal and Pipe Bands, and the latest sporting events will be broadcast each evening.
