WEDDING

KERR—BLACK. Last evening, much kindly interest was taken in the marriage of Nancy Elizabeth, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs C. E. Kerr, Selwyn Street, and Sholto, youngest son of the late Mr J. Black and Mrs Black, Opotiki, Bay of Plenty. The wedding ceremony, which was performed by the Rev, A. J. H. Dow, of Trinity Church, was held at the bride's home in Selwyn Street, where the rooms were beautifully decorated with roses and hydrangeas. In the drawing room were bowls of Georges Pernet roses, and brilliant red roses were arranged in the dining room. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a graceful frock of magnolia tinted satin,' beautifully cut. The plain bodice was made with panel effect in front, with the V neckline slightly rucked on the corsage, and tiny puff sleeves. A swathed sash from each side of the panel was tied at the back in a large bow, with a centre of pearls. The skirt was tightfitting to the knees, and then fell in full flares to the ground. Her veil of cream-tinted net and Mechlin lace, worn over the face, fell from a coronet of orange blossom buds to form a train. Cream lace mittens, cream velvet shoes, and sheaf of Christmas lilies, with a knot of white heather, completed this bridal picture. The bridesmaids—Miss Margaret Kerr, sister of the bride, and Miss Marawell Burnett, “Te Aka Station,” Hakataramea—were frocked alike in satin frocks of the same shade as the bridal gown. The long bodices, shaped to the figure, were finished with belts of plaited satin, with diamante buckles. From vandyked hip-line, the skirts fell in very full flares to the ground. Smart little coatees of elm green panne velvet, made with tiny puff sleeves rucked on the shoulder, green velvet shoes, and cream lace -mittens, made these bridesmaids’ frocks look very attractive. Each bridesmaid carried an effective bouquet of pink and cream roses. Mr L. Mahan was best man; Mr R. H. England, Christchurch, was groomsman; and Messrs Edward Kerr, Harry Washbourn, Brian Kerr, and Jim Fisher, Christchurch, acted as ushers.

Mr and Mrs Kerr received their guests in a large marquee, where the wedding breakfast was served. The marquee was decorated with greenery, trails of pink roses and sweet peas, and on the tables were Iceland poppies and delphiniums. The bridal table was arranged with small vases of shaded sweet peas. Mrs Kerr wore a frock of black georgette, with bodice and flared hem of Carrickmacross lace, and small coatee of lace edged with a narrow piping of black georgette. She also wore a long rope of pearls, and carred a bouquet of scarlet roses. Miss June Kerr, sister of the bride, wore a dainty frock of moonlight blue taffeta, with hem of pink georgette embroidered with pink fox-gloves. Among those invited were—Mr and Mrs E. G.
