PORK GRADING.

GOVERNMENT AGREE TO SCHEME By Telegraph—Press Association PALMERSTON N., March 19. Official advice has been received in Feilding that the Minister of Agriculture has approved of Government grading of pigs. This decision, which is of the utmost importance to the pig industry, was conveyed in a letter from the Minister of Agriculture:— “With reference to the representations conveyed t.o me by a deputation on March 4th, it will be recollected that the principal point at issue was the grading of pig carcases by Government officers. The whole question has been the subject of very careful consideration. I now have pleasure in informing you that it has been decided to institute Government grading of pigs in those establishments that were desirous of such being done, under a voluntary scheme of purchase on hook weights and grade, rather than wait until grading could be inaugurated simultaneously at all necessary points. It has been decided to make a start at each point as soon as the necessary arrangements can be made.”
