SEADOWN.
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE A very pleasant afternoon was held on Saturday, when the monthly meeting of the Seadown Women’s Institute was held. There were about thirty ladies present. The two delegates appointed to attend the annual meeting of the Canterbury Provincial Federation of Women’s Institutes were Mrs F. Smith and Miss M. Topham. A short demonstration given by Mrs Pemberton on making a footstool was watched with a great deal of interest. Another interesting demonstration was given by Miss Tayler, who showed various ways in which sealing wax could be used, from the decoration of pottery and glassware to the making of dainty posies and buckles.
During the afternoon a “bring and buy” stall was held, brisk business being done.
The tea hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Hughes, Craythorne and Topham.
