SEVERE TENSION IN INDIA.
Hindus and Moslems. SERIOUS RIOT IN AGRA. (Received March 18, 7.28 p.m.) DELHI, March 18. With the date of the next roundtable conference fixed for the autumn, Hindu and Moslem leaders throughout India are concentrating on efforts to solve their communal differences before going to London. Meanwhile there is severe tension between Moslems and Hindus at Agra, where one was killed and over fifty were injured in a series of clashes following the action of members of a Hindu procession in playing music in front of a Mosque where Moslems were praying. Several police, in attempting to stop the ensuing riot, were severely injured. Clashes occurred throughout the night, and the police were forced to fire to disperse the threatening crowds. Shops of both communities were looted and destroyed. Armed police are patrolling the town.
