DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS. BRIDSON DUAL WINNER. By Teleerapb—Press Association WANGANUI, March 4. A gallery of twelve hundred people watched swimmers contest events In the New Zealand championships at Gonyille baths this evening, when the first day’s programme was completed. The weather was fine, but cold. G. Bridson (Auckland) retained the men’s 100 yards, and mile titles, as did the 150 yards men’s back-stroke champion, L. Gi Moorehouse, of Canterbury. The Aucklander, Marie Farquhar, took the women’s 100 yards title, held by K. Miller, who has retired from the amateur ranks. The meeting is expected to conclude on Saturday. Results: — 100 YARDS MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP.—First heat: G. Bridson (Auckland) 1, J. Enwright (Auckland) 2, C. E. Claridge (Wellington) 3; time, 58 l-ssec. Second heat: J. Blakely (Wellington) 1, A. Raper (Auckland) 2, A. Daulton (Canterbury) 3; time, 63 2-5 sec. Final: Bridson 1, Enwright 2, Claridge 3. Time, 58 2-ssec. Won by four yards; a foot between second and third. 100 YARDS LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP. —Miss M. Farquhar (Auckland) 1, Miss N. Stratton (Auckland) 2, Miss M. Smith (Auckland) 3. Time, 69 4-5 sec. The race was between Misses Farquhar and Stratton, the former gaining the decision by a foot. 150 YARDS MEN’S BACKSTROKE CHAMPIONSHIP.—L. G. Moorehouse (Canterbury) 1, A. Raper (Auckland) 2, A. G. Bolan (Canterbury) 3. Time, lmin 56 3-ssec. Won by 20 yards. ONE MILE MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP.—G. Bridson (Auckland) 1, A. Stokes (Canterbury) 2, D. Reid (South Canterbury) 3. Time, 24min 24 l-ssec. With 44 laps to go, Bridson lapped Gowan and Reid, and went on to win by two and a half laps. YALDHURST CUP.—Points are Auckland 25, Canterbury 9, Wellington 6, South Canterbury 1.
