WINCHESTER.

ST. JOHN’S CHURCH. There was a large congregation at St. John’s Church, Winchester, on Sunday morning, when the Bishop of Christchurch, Rt. Rev. Dr. WestWatson officiated at the service. The lessons were read by the vicar, Rev. G. Nelham Watson. Mr W. J. Moore presided at the organ. EARTHQUAKE RELIEF. The members of the St. John’s Ladies’ Guild have sent a large parcel of clothing to the Hawke’s Bay earthquake relief fund. The members are to be commended for their thoughtful action, and the clothes will be appreciated by the sufferers. PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs L. H. Orbell left yesterday for Akaroa. Mr J. Mcßride senr., returned on Sunday from Hanmer. Miss E. Kirby, Waitatuna, is spending a holiday with her aunt, Mrs O. J. Connolly. Miss S. Houston, Napier, who was the guest of Mr L. H. Orbell, left yesterday for Christchurch. Mr and Mrs F. L. McDoiSkld, of Wangan’% who spent a holiday in Winchester, left yesterday for the north. *
