CONFIDENCE IN BRITAIN. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received December 28, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, December 26. Sir Herbert Austin, in an interview, said the next year would be better than 1930. as far as British motoring was concerned. Manufacturers’ costs were now down to a fairly economic level, and selling prices, taking into account the super: quality of the British products, were now reasonably competitive. British manufacturers hold the major part of the home trade, which gives them confidence to instal the most modern equipment for cheap production. Moreover, Britain is already on top in some Dominion markets, where a few years ago she was at the bottom. The Dominions and Colonies were giving Britain substantial preferences.
