AUSTRALIANS IN WALES.

Play Against Glamorgan. AUSTRALIANS AT WICKETS. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph- Copyright (Received August 3, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, August 2. To-day’s cricket match between Australia and Glamorgan at Swansea was delayed by rain, till 4.15. The teams are:— Australia. —Ponsford, Jackson, Bradman, Richardson, Fairfax, McCabe, Grimmett, Watson, Wall, a’Beckett, Hurwood. Glamorgan.—Turnbull, Clay, Bates, Bell, E. Davies, D. Davies, E. Dryson, Every, Hills, Mercer, Ryan. Jackson started splendidly, and with Ponsford seemed comfortable on an easy wicket. They punished the bowling freely, though each survived a leg before appeal from Mercer. Fifty was shown on the board in forty minutes. At ninety-three Ponsford was dismissed, trying to turn a ball to leg. Bradman was wildly welcomed by a keen Welsh crowd, when he joined Jackson, the other hero of a big partnership in the previous match, but two runs later, Jackson was nicely caught at fine leg, after a sound but cautious innings, lasting 85 minutes. McCabe replaced Kippax, who is suffering from a strained back. It is not serious, but requires rest. Bradman treated Mercer with caution at first, but later hit him about freely. McCabe found the veteran troublesome. Towards the close of play the pair added 54 in 40 minutes, when stumps were drawn. Inclement weather has caused nearly ninety hours delay already during the tour. The following are the scores:— AUSTRALIA. First Innings. Ponsford, b E. Davies 53 Jackson, c Hills, b Mercer 39 Bradman, not out 27 McCabe, not out ; 27 Extras .. .. .. 2 Total for two wickets .. 149 FIRST-CLASS AVERAGES. AUSTRALIANS AND ENGLISHMEN COMPARED. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received August 3, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, August 2. The leading batting and bowling averages are as under:

A little Auckland flapper caught smoking a surreptitious cigarette was severely admonished by mamma. “But Mother,” pleaded the culprit, “you used to smoke yourself!” “I did,” confessed mamma, “and I’ve seen the folly of it.” “But I want to see the folly of it, too,” pouted Miss Fifteen-years-old. The fascination of tobacco appeals to all alike. The craving is insistent. And why not? Smoking is not a crime. It won’t hurt anybody so long as the tobacco is right. The great thing is to steer clear of brands full of nicotine as practically all the imported lines are. The world’s purest and best tobaccos are the toasted New Zealand sorts. The toasting neutralises the poisonous nicotine and renders the tobacco absolutely harmless. There are only four toasted brands on the market—Riverhead Gold, Cavendish, Navy Cut No. 3 and Cut Plug No. 10. Of varying strength, they are all remarkable for their delicious flavour and delightful aroma. Thev will not burn the tongue however freely they are indulged in, and they leave the mouth sweet and clean.
