STEER-RIDING CONTEST. By Telegraph—Press Association GISBORNE, July 16. The British Rugby team were extended a civic receptio nto-day, and also a Maori welcome. Later, they were entertained by the Maoris at lunch at the new meeting house, called Tepoho-o-Rawiri. In the afternoon the visitors were guests at an exciting steer-riding competition. During these contests, four competitors were injured, three being admitted to Cook Hospital within fifteen minutes. Gerald Parker (24) was injured on the forehead; Edmond Power (25) received serious stomach injuries; and Stanley Higgins (19) sustained a fractured arm and a dislocated elbow.
