THE RIALTO. H. Allchurch and Co. report for the wee*c ended July sth. On Friday, 50 pens of poultry were entered, while 10 pigs of various grades were yarded. Better prices ruled for good heavy varieties of table poultry, the demand being much keener. Forward pigs were in demand and realised good prices. Cabbage, marrows. pumpkins, etc., came to hand in large quantities. The local market was practically bare of cauliflower, consequently prices have advanced considerably. Good supplies of carrots, parsnips and swedes came forward. There was a good demand for choice dessert apples and also for Lord Wolseleys. The supply of eggs increased and the market dropped back slightly. The furniture entry was unusually heavy, and attracted a full attendance of buyers. A very satisfactory clearance was made. Eggs supplies were steady, and the price unchanged. Sound table potatoes, onions, parsnips, and carrots met good inquiry and were moving freely. Walnuts were heavily supplied with very little demand. Large consignments of apples reached the market from northern growers, but choice lines met a sound demand. Pears supplies were in keeping with the demand, with little alteration in price. Island oranges and bananas were to hand on Wednesday. The oranges were in poor order, and sold at a wide range of prices according to condition. The bananas opened up in good condition. Lemons were very scarce, but good supplies of both N.Z. and Australian lemons arrived at the end of the week, and eased the demand. Hothouse tomatoes were moderately inquired for with few offering. Good supplies of poorman oranges were forward and the demand was keen.
