Anything showing any quality sold well, j We quote:—Halfbred ewe hoggets up i to 16/7, inferior sorts to 13/6, wether hoggets from 6/- to 12/-; best 2-tooth I i-bred ewes to 25 9, 4-tooth *-bred I ewes to 31/6, aged ewes of all classes from 9/7 to 15/9. FAT LAMBS—There was a small yarding of fat lambs, and they sold at well above schedule rates. FAT SHEEP—An average yarding comprised some good lines of wethers, but ewes predominated. Values were practically unchanged. We quote:— On account of Mr J. A. Powell (Waihaorunga), 60 ewes at 18/10 to 23/4. Best wethers sold up to 30/1, and best ewes up to 29/10. FAT CATTLE. —There was again a fairly heavy yarding, comprising 425, of which 230 came from the North Island. Most of the entry consisted of heavy steers. The market was down by from 10/- to £1 per head. We quote the following sales:—Account of Mr M. Bethell (Pahau Pastures), 14 steers at £l6/17/6 to £lB/12/6; account of Mr Roger Gould (The Hermitage), 8 steers at £lO/2/6 to £25/17/6; account of North Island client, 10 steers at £23/12/6 to £26/17/6; account Jones fltnd Sons (Waimate), 14 steers at £ls/2/6 to £lB/2/6. Best handy-weight steer and heifer beef sold at from 38/6 to 41/per 1001 b, heavy steer 33/6 to 36/6, medium and inferior quality 31/- to 34/6, cow beef 30/- to 33/-, inferior cow beef down to 22/6. PIGS—The pork market was a good one from start to finish, all lots selling at a little better than last week. We can quote the following prices:— 5 choppers from £7/1/- to £ll/1/-. The bacon market comprised a fair-sized entry, and all lots sold at late rates. A good entry of store pigs met with a fair demand, all classes being eagerly sought after at late rates.
