ST. ANDREWS.
SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the St. Andrews School Committee was held on Monday night. Present.—Messrs E. O’Loughlin (chairman), D. Stowell, E. Blank. P. Dix, and C. Hoskins. The headmaster reported a roll number of 88. It was decided to make an appeal through the pupils for donations towards the Cancer Campaign Fund, the quota for the school having been fixed at £4 10/-. MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB. At the weekly shoot of the Miniature Rifle Club, held on Monday night, the highest scores were:—E. Hoskin 78, H. Pugh 78. I. McDuff 78, E. Thomas 76, L. Galletly 76. In the shoot-off. I. McDuff won the sweepstake trophy. PRESBYTERIAN LADIES’ GUILD. The monthly meeting of the Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild was held on Thursday afternoon, Mrs Russell presiding over a good attendance. The subject for discussion was the forthcoming sale of work, which is to be held early in September, and towards which everything is progressing favourably. Afternoon tea was served, Mrs H. Dellow being the hostess for the afternoon.
