A CLOUDBURST.
THAMES FLOODED. By Telegraph—Press Association. THAMES, July 7. Rain fell solidly all Saturday night, and Sunday, culminating in a cloudburst about 2 pm., when over three inches of rain fell. Two streams, the Hape and Karaka, burst their banks, and the flood waters streamed through the town, invading residences, some of which had over a foot of water over the floors. Fortunately, the high tide being at 3.20, the water was not banked up for long, but left a heavy mud deposit everywhere. In the country the Kirikiri stream over-flowed the main road, doing considerable damage. A large slip is reported on the TaupoCorolglen Road. One tunnel of the Borough waterrace collapsed, carrying away about half a chain of flujning. Water-power users will be unable to run till this is repaired.
