His Honour Mr Justice Adams passed through Timaru on Saturday by the first express for the south. A cable message from San Francisco announces that the Rev. C. H. Watson, of Sydney, has been elected president of General Conference of Seventh Day Adventists at the quadrennial sessions. The Prime Minister (Hon. G. W. Forbes), announced on Saturday that the Public Service Commissioner (Mr P. Verschaffelt). whose term of office expired on Saturday, had been reappointed for a further term of seven years, in accordance with the Public Service Act, 1912. Messrs H. C. Thompson and C. West represented the South Canterbury ExContingenters’ Association at the annual reunion of the Christchurch Association on Saturday and the service in connection with the signing of the Peace of Vereeniging at Christchurch Cathedral yesterday.
