OBITUARY.
CAPTAIN W. G. McCONECHY. The funeral of the late Captain W. G. McConechy, master of the s.s. “Canadian Conqueror” took place on Saturday afternoon. A service was conducted in St. Mary's Church by the Vicar of the Parish, after which the funeral moved off for the cemetery.. the grave-side service being conducted by tne Rev. W. H. Monaghan. The Canadian National Steamships were represented by Mr M. P. Caffin and W. S. Spindler (Christchurch). G. L. Tapley and G. R. Peake (Dunedin) and J. P. Lamb (Timaru representative). The Harbour Board was represented by the chairman (Mr G. T .Dawson), the secretary (Mr F. Metson), Captains D. McDougali and White and Mr J. Flett. Other Shipping Companies were represented by Mr F. O. Knowles. The casket was covered by the Canadian National House Flag, and numerous beautiful floral tributes including one from the ship’s officers and engineers and from each New Zealand agency.
