HOSPITAL BOARDS.

ESTIMATES UNDER REVIEW. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, May 31. The Public Health Department is busy going through Hospital Boards’ estimates. Stallworthy (Minister of Public Health) stated to-day that there was no suggestion of a decrease in the efficiency of the hospital system, nor was it proposed to throw any additional burden on local ratepayers! A close scrutiny of Hospital Boards’ estimates of capital expenditure this year was operating in absolutely the opposite direction. Other proposals would be made to realise the burden of local ratepayers.
