AIRMAN’S TRAGIC DEATH.
Acrobatic Stunt Miscarries.
DESPERATE STRUGGLES FOR LIFE. (United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Cor wight.) BERLIN, April 28. A German acrobatic airman Hundertmark met a horrible death before the gaze of thousands at Dusseldorf, when attempting to climb a rope ladder from one flying ’plane to another. Hundertmark caught the end of the ladder attacked to the machine above but was unable’ to raise his feet to the first rung. The second pilot fruitlessly tried to pull him up. Landing meant death. Thus for three-quarters of an hour the horrified spectators watched Hundertmark dangling in mid-air. Firemen held a sheet and the machine circled frequently, but the acrobat had either become entangled or had lost his nerve and was unable to drop. Finally the pilot steeled his heart and landed. Hundertmark was dragged along the ground. When picked up he was terribly injured and died shortly afterwards.
