FINICKY SEAMEN.

KAMONA HELD UP AT AUCKLAND By Telegraph—Pres* Association AUCKLAND, April 29. The Union Company’s cargo steamer Kamona was delayed at Auckland for 16 hours to-day, owing to trouble with the crew. The vessel unloaded coal from Greymouth on Monday, and was to have sailed on her return trip to Greymouth at midnight on Monday. The cargo had been discharged by means of grabs, and some of the coal had fallen out of the grabs on to the deck, as well as the forecastle head and windlass. At sailing time on Monday night members of the crew were requested to clean away the coal from the deck and forecastle head, but they refused, stating that the work should have been done by the waterside workers who discharged the vessel. The men also refused to take the vessel to sea until the work was done, so her departure was postponed until this morning, when there was a recurrence of the trouble, the crew again refusing to clear the loose coal off the decks. The work eventually had to be done by shore labour. It was afternoon before the trouble was finally settled, and the Kamona sailed shortly after four o’clock.
